R&B

El Rhythm and Blues (abreujat per les seves sigles R & B) o Jumping Music és un gènere musical derivat en el seu origen del jazz, el gospel i el blues. El terme musical va ser introduït als Estats Units el 1949 per Jerry Wexler de la revista Billboard. substituir la denominació com "race records" (enregistraments de raça), considerat ofensiu per a la postguerra mundial així com per a la categoria de Billboard "Harlem Hit Parade" el juny de 1949, i principalment era usat per identificar el gènere musical que més tard es desenvoluparia en forma de rock and roll. El R & B original, conegut avui com rhythm and blues clàssic, ha evolucionat prenent dues vessants populars una coneguda com rhythm and blues contemporani i una altra que no té pràcticament relació amb el subgènere rhythm and blues mainstream.La reina actual de l'R & B és disputat per cantants com : Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Beyonce, i Mariah Carey la cantant de R & B amb més discos venuts.

El Gangsta Rap és el sub-gènere de la música rap en el qual les lletres donen més importància a les històries de gàngsters i drogues. És principalment un subgènere temàtic, que es plasma en diferents subestils musicals de la música rap.
Antecedents

La temàtica del crim, la violència, les drogues va aparèixer aviat en el hip hop, però no es centraven en ella. En el període entre 1986 i 1992 tenien més repercussió les lletres amb un missatge afrocéntric positiu, en què el fenomen gàngster era denunciat per les seves conseqüències negatives. Alguns artistes representatius d'aquesta època, parlaven repetidament d'ús d'armes, o d'enfrontar a la policia i les autoritats, però el seu desafiament tenia una finalitat constructiva, dirigint-se a la millora de la comunitat afroamericana. Durant la major part dels anys vuitanta, els discos de rap de més repercussió es van gravar a la Costa Est, encara que també hi havia escenes importants en la oest.
